Season’s Greetings!

Wow, how time flies when you’re having fun. What a crazy, wild roller coaster of a year it’s been, hence so few emails from me. According to the Chinese, 2016 is the Year of the Monkey – “ambitious and adventurous, but irritable”, which pretty much sums up my 2016. How has your year been?

My bestselling book, Stress Gone! has certainly taken me on a totally different, but challenging journey in 2016. Using the book’s techniques, I’ve pushed well beyond my comfort zones, and overcome doubts, fears, self confidence, social awkwardness and much unease of being an author and speaker with a new public profile. I’ve now spoken on many platforms, been on radio, TV and appeared in various magazines, newspapers and online articles too (see my Media page)

While this has all been rewarding on some levels, I’ve definitely questioned myself and life too. Have I done enough? How can I do things differently? How do I make a much bigger impact? It truly pains me to hear just how much stress affects people’s lives, especially knowing I have solutions they can benefit from.

It saddened me to hear that men have a higher suicide rate over December, purely because of the perceived pressures to fulfill their partner and children’s Christmas present and holiday expectations. How tragic! I feel for the people, and especially families, whose lives are dictated to by the insidious and unrealistic pressures of commercialisation and consumerism at this time of year.

Advertisers really do a great job of pressing those guilt buttons, and then rubbing our noses into the insane notion that we ‘aren’t enough’, ‘don’t do enough’ and the result is a depressing, ‘I don’t feel good enough!‘ At the best of times, many people don’t feel good enough – instead they feel miserable, sad, lonely, depressed, dejected, rejected, abandoned, anxious, stressed, and then suicidal. This is truly saddening because it is so unnecessary to spend a life in misery.

A few days ago I posted this on social media:  Instead of buying ANY Christmas or Holiday gifts, rather … Give Love … Listen to Hear, not to Respond … Show Respect … Appreciate Another … Be Grateful … Offer Random Acts of Kindness … Hug Someone … Be Mindful … above all, Smile!  You ARE the Gift of Life.
