EFT Tapping For Anxiety

EFT Tapping for anxiety is highly effective. Results are long-lasting, if not permanent.Although anxiety disorders have steadily increased in recent years, the good news is EFT tapping for anxiety is a highly effective remedy. More good news is EFT tapping for anxiety can also be self-applied in order to regulate emotions, and the nervous system. This is especially important in today’s fast-paced and competitive society where daily demands on us are high.

Additionally EFT tapping for anxiety can help negate the need to isolate one’s self from others, and also the reliance upon medication in order to cope. So I assure you there is lots of hope if you or a loved one is suffering with anxiety.  When applied correctly, EFT tapping is like a secret weapon that disarms anxiety.

If you didn’t already know, ‘EFT’ is short for Emotional Freedom Techniques, also commonly known as ‘tapping’. The word tapping comes from the physical tapping action applied when executing this modality.

Since 2007, I have helped 100’s of clients overcome their anxiety related issues, including depression and panic attacks, which often goes hand-in-hand. If you are suffering with anxiety, please know you are not alone, there is help available, and you can conquer your anxiety.

Why have I had great success with EFT tapping for anxiety?

Simply put, although I recognise the importance of symptoms, the “real magic” lies in the discovery of the root cause/s to one’s mental health challenges.

The way I look at it – through the lens of my therapy viewpoint – anxiety is a symptom, but not the root cause. Much like anger is a symptom, not the root cause. Depression is a symptom, not the root cause.  Trauma is also a symptom, not the root cause etc.

As a therapist, I’m always curious to know what underlies these symptoms i.e. what is behind or underneath the symptoms?  When, where, how and why did these symptoms start showing up? In essence, what happened to trigger these anxious symptoms?

Together with the client we will do some investigative work, like a detective inquiry at a crime scene.  As the saying goes, ‘the devil is in the details’.  A few appropriate and simple questions can help us to uncover these details, including subconscious patterns. Subconscious patterns determine our behavioural patterns, habits, predominant emotions, our thinking; all of which shapes our inner world.

As much as symptoms are important indicators, I don’t placate them i.e. by treating them at the surface with a bandaid. I actively seek out the root causes, which then helps us to resolve the actual issue of anxiety, and anxious behaviour. Once the root cause is isolated, we can begin applying EFT tapping.

What is the root cause? Why is that so important?

The root cause of anxiety is usually unwanted memories or events of the past that have long been forgotten, or unwittingly buried by the subconscious. Although intended to keep you safe initially, over time this starts to affect one’s behaviour, habits, beliefs, emotions etc.

The root cause typically combines with bothersome, alarming or relentless physical feelings of anxiety and uneasiness. This can show up in one’s head, chest, stomach, solar plexus, or elsewhere in the body. Anxiety can show up in different ways, and different parts of the body so there is no right or wrong way. However, all these clues are vitally important, and should not be ignored.

For some, this anxious uneasiness never switches off.  It’s as if the anxiety is in perpetual control, leaving one feeling quite helpless, hopeless and exasperated. Even depressed too, because it can feel as if you’re a prisoner in your own body; trapped with no escape.

Many of my anxious clients say they live life constantly ‘waiting for the other shoe to drop’ -i.e. in anticipation of bad news, or something else to go wrong. Although this mindset unwittingly fuels their anxiety, it’s indicative of just how trapped they may feel.

This wretched uneasiness may include overwhelming feelings of anguish, distress, fear, worry, or panic that can also lead to insomnia. As well as isolation, sadness, depression, and at times, even anger.  Sure there’s an ebb and flow to all this – some good days, and some terrible, like an emotional rollercoaster.

You may have noticed anxious uneasiness tends to really flare up in stressful or unwanted situations where you don’t feel safe, secure, or in control. Hence the need to withdraw, and isolation develops.

Thinking about future events or plans can also trigger you, spiking these uneasy physical feelings, and rampant emotions. And, it may take hours, even days to come down from a highly triggered experience.

These constant alarm bell triggers 24/7 are typical of a dysregulated nervous system, which also heightens anxiety. And, so a vicious cycle ensues. Being relaxed and calm is almost rare for anxious people.

But, all that said … there is most definitely hope … and, also a remedy too!

EFT tapping is an excellent tool that regulates the nervous system. And, thus naturally restores peace and calm – mentally, emotionally and physically. The tapping process is holistic in nature; working on body and mind simultaneously. This is vitally important; I believe it’s the primary reason EFT tapping is so remarkably effective.

More especially when the practitioner understands the root cause/s of a person’s anxiety. And, they know how to follow all clues that show up for a client during their session. Every nuance is key when applying EFT tapping for anxiety.

What’s more, its important that every anxious person be treated as a unique individual. There is no shortcut, one size fits all ‘cookie cutter’ approach for EFT tapping for anxiety. This is why tapping scripts generally don’t work.

How does EFT tapping for anxiety work?

Since EFT tapping is a somatic i.e. body-centric process, we’re able to gently soothe all of these anxious, uneasy physical feelings and related emotions. And, most importantly, to neutralise those distressing effects of any past memories or events (the root causes).

Once we have adequately addressed all these different aspects or layers – emotions, physical feelings, past memories, and any nuances that may show up … violà emotional freedom is yours!

Ultimately, the result is that as the underlying anxiety begins to evaporate, feelings of lightness, relaxation, peace and calm naturally surface. This is wonderful to experience. It is deeply empowering, gives one confidence, and a sense of wellbeing. All this enables being in control of your life – as opposed to anxiety being the controlling factor.

Essentially when done correctly, EFT tapping can be likened to an eraser of the past. Much like wiping a chalkboard clean – you create a fresh, new slate to work with that’s your own creation!

This is the effectiveness and power of the EFT tapping process that I have witnessed countless times. Better still, results are usually long-lasting, if not permanent.
